The Third Sound is a modern jazz group led by saxophonist Ramon Navarro III, bringing fresh energy to the jazz tradition. Blending straight-ahead standards with hard bop, Latin styles, funk grooves, and contemporary jazz influences, the band delivers engaging performances that connect with both dedicated listeners and wider audiences.

Based in New Orleans, the group performs a versatile repertoire from the Great American Songbook, classic and modern jazz composers, and fresh takes on familiar material. The Third Sound has appeared at The Three Maries Jazz Club and features both instrumental and vocal performances, allowing the band to adapt to listening rooms, cocktail venues, festivals, private events, and cultural programs.

Ramón Navarro III

Ramon Navarro III is the saxophonist and bandleader of The Third Sound, leading the group through straight-ahead and modern jazz with a focus on improvisation, tight ensemble interplay, and audience connection. With over a decade of performance experience, he has performed in a wide range of settings including big bands, orchestras, and small ensembles. A graduate of Colorado Mesa University, he has also held leadership roles as woodwind captain for the Maverick Stampede and as a woodwind technician for Montrose High School, and has delivered more than 35 outreach performances at over 30 schools.
